Don't go to JRP they are not a legitimate Agency.
You do not pay a Talent Agency, they pay you.

Agents pay you, you don't pay them. Who told you to pay an Agent?

Perhaps you should not look for modeling and acting until you are more familiar with the industry.

You don't pay agents, they pay you. You need a Talent Agent if you want to audition for plays in your city.

Hi,

never pay the agent to be represented, no matter what they tell you! Ever! It's just not normal practice.

On this link there is a scam that I was almost victim of with an agent: http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/acting_scams.html

The first thing I would recommend, though is that you get good training. You might be able to get an agent, but you also want to be able to keep him/her and get sent out on lot of auditions.

I answer questions like this a lot and so instead of writing the same or similar answers over and over again, I have created a 36-page ebooklet that hopefully will help you a lot.

Just go to http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/acs-blog.html , sign in on the right side of the page and you can download it for free. It's called: What It Takes To Become An Actor.

The second resource you'll want to look at that really answers your question as you asked it is: http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/how_to_get_an_agent.html . It takes you through a process that I used to get two agents and a personal manager in a short period of time.

Just remember that getting an agent will most probably not answer all your prayers. You still have to do your share. Remember that the agent only gets 10% of the take, so in my opinion, a good attitude to have is that YOU have to do 90% of the work to make sure you get seen. If it turns out that your agent is getting you a lot of auditions, then great, but don't count on it. And that, my friend, is why I answered the first part of this question the way I did. You need a lot of other things if you are in this for the long haul!

Hope this helps!

I am an actress, singer, model, and dancer, so I am very familiar with agencies and such. First of all I got accepted to JRP , but I did not go because I got an agent instead. Agents are supposed to be free. Then when they get you a job, you pay them 10% of the money you got. So you should be able to afford an agent. They are free. Good luck!!

Dump Powers, they are a scam. They only tell you you are good to get your money. If you want to be an actor, you have to go out and act. Powers is an agent and you say you can't afford an agent. Doesn't make sense. You need to start over.
