As we all know the Democrats are vested in defeat in Iraq. If they wanted to end this war, they could with defunding, which is allowed. But they won't. They want to make sure that GW Bush gets the blame on this. Everything they concentrate on is all about Bashing Bush or impeaching him. Now if we should defeat Al-quida in the next few months, will the Dems try to take the glory? It won't help thier presediential bid. But what would the Democrats do considering thier hatred for GW??

You know we started this war fighting Taliban? You just listen to the republican propaganda machine. If you defeat al-quida in the next two months, I will vote republican.

A) We will not defeat our enemies within the next few months, this is literally impossible and is not even the goal in Iraq. The goal is to turn over the responsibility to the Iraq government so WE can leave. and B) The criticism for Bush is not just from the Dem's, it's coming form both parties now, and it's well deserved considering the despicable handling of the war. Whatever the outcome of the war is, Bush does deserve the harsh criticism for creating a very unnecessary situation that caused a civil war in Iraq and has not made US any less susceptible to terrorist attacks.

"As we all know the Democrats are vested in defeat..."

Sorry, bub - we don't know that.
You assume ALL Democrats think and believe the same.
Not that it would have occurred to you, but there are more than just a few Republicans that are equally "vested in defeat".

The problem is this:
Bush made a massive mistake in going into Iraq.
Now, his administration is flirting with the idea of invading Iran.

Bush and his boys went into Iraq with too little troops and not enough support for our fighting men and women.
There was no clear exit strategy and there certainly were no WMD or al qaeda threat when we got there.

Our wounded troops are getting pathetic medical care when they return.
Our troop strength is so stretched that these fine soldiers have to make two or more tours over there...increasing their chance of coming home in a body bag.

The fact that the invasion was poorly executed, leaving the country without an internal police or militia force to maintain stability has created a vacuum where there is now civil strife.
And our troops now have to be police officers...something they were not trained to do.

The troops need to come home.
When?
I don't know.
We can't stay there forever.
We should support them long enough to pull them all out safely (unlike the Vietnam debacle).
And the fact that the Iraqi government is taking a holiday while our troops (not to mention countless Iraqi citizens) face danger really pisses me and most Americans off.

Conclusion:
Does it really matter who gets the credit (or blame) in Iraq?
Let's learn from this mess and NOT do it again.
We're billions of dollars in debt and there is no clear reason for us to stay.

Get a grip on reality - senate tried to stop the war but once again, the left side nixed the deal. The only reason why Pelosi gave in was so that the troops could get funding. If she hadn't, Bush would've let them suffer just to prove his point. Terrorism will never be stopped, certainly not in a couple months. Terrorists are radical scum bags. They'll do anything to prove their point, no matter how big their adversary is. We are just sequentially murdering our men and women for no reason at all. Who said we were supposed to liberate Iraq? We went their to supposedly stop the WMD's. Remember them? Now it's shifted into a whole new arena. It's all bullshit and those of you who think it's a just cause are morons. Send our people home. Enough is enough...

I don't know who is telling you that the left wants defeat. We have defeat. Do we seem happy?

I couldn't be more left. And I will tell you that if it would stop the killing, I would be quite happy to wake up tomorrow to find out that W was right, there is peace and prosperity in Iraq, and we're building a monument to the Bush family.

You see, if they were right about any of this, I too would be a Republican. Democrats are not power hungry, greedy, and full of hate. This is something you clearly don't understand. We could all be Republicans, you know. We're just not.

It would reinforce the argument that the entire war was staged in the first place, to push for political reasons...

They did it last time, holding sadam's trial around election time..

It is easy to win a war, when both sides are working together to create that war...

Americans were behind 9/11.. Americans lied to us to get us into the war.. Americans are funding BOTH SIDES OF THE WAR...

The american people are tired of being used.. and regardless of the outcome of the 'war on terror'.. we will still know that bush and the neocons are still the worst leaders this government has ever had.

You seem to be out of touch with reality, as many Republicans are. We will not "defeat" Al Queda in the traditional sense of victory, since they are not limited by national borders. It's like trying to smash a puddle of mrecury, all you accomplish is to spread it all over the room.
The Dems won't de-fund the war because the largest political contributors are also benefitting financially fron the war effort, and they need campaign money just as bad as the Libertarians do.

"As we all know" -- meaning that anyone who disagrees with you must be wrong, and that their opinions are meaningless.

There are other reasons why Democrats might not have taken the actions you mention. The primary and most likely one being that they lack the political courage to stand up for their convictions, and to risk a possible media backlash by taking actions that were unpopular.

Your accusation -- phrased as an assumption -- that they are "vested in defeat" doesn't help your arguments. It just makes you look like you want to bash Democrats.

"if we should defeat Al-quida in the next few months"

No Democrat is dumb enough to believe that's going to happen anyway.

Al Queda isn't even in Iraq! If we invade Pakistan, though, maybe we'd have a shot.

Yeah right. The democrats are vested in defeat in Iraq and the GOP Cons hate our troops, that's why they won't bring them home.

Get a grip. Repubes are going down in 08. Again. Just like in 06.
