I've done all three (except the smoking bit) at different times.

I've worked in management, mostly in the software industry as a project head or team leader.

I've been a corporate grunt, just doing my job and not having anyone report to me.

I've been a teacher and minister and counselor, and just tried to help people resolve situations without caring about what other people think of me.

Right now, I'm an attorney. And I don't really fit into any one of those categories.

Purchasing / Buyer for a Manufacturing Company - all parts made in the USA.

I fall into A - - with the exception that I don't MAKE them do their jobs, I encourage it, we work as a team here, no so much that we all have divided tasks, but that we all do what ever it takes to get the end result done.

I don't own the company, but care about it as I do, I enjoy what I do, and who I work with.
