This country is getting messed up. The government pays the rich and taxes the poor, we don't have national health care(fyi I have talked to Canadians and Japanese and they told me wait times aren't that long they are just a tad longer than the US may be a week), start unjustifiable wars, our free speech is diminishing as we speak b/c of the patriot act and we stand and take it some even support it. The constitution clearly states that the US people have the right to overthrow the government and create a new and fair one if it gets out of hand so why don't people rise up and make a change? Not through violence but through protest and boycotts?

I think more and more people are getting close to their breaking point..

More and more people are being informed by noncommercial and unconventional forms of media.. Internet is a power that cant be easily contained...

We need to do something before its too late... and before we loose more of our freedoms, that would prevent us from being able to stand up and protect those freedoms..

Starting unjust wars? Ever since the start of the Iraq war and Saddam was taken down, there hasn't been another attack on US soil since the 9/11. Taking their oil? If the war was about taking oil, we would just station our troops outside the oil wells and protect them. Instead we protect the cities and the civilians. The government taxes the rich more than they tax the poor? You have no idea what you are talking about. If Kobe Bryant got a gross income of $20 million dollars, the net income would be about $13 million dollars. If my mom got a check for about $2500 dollars gross, the net would be about $2200 or $2100. If free speech was diminishing people like you wouldn't be able to go online and talk about overthrowing the government. Oh, and why don't people rise up and change the government? Because you are an extremist, and believe it or not, most people are happy with the way they live and don't want to change the government in America.

Keep your hands off my government please. It's the best in the world even with all of it's faults. I am somewhat of an ammature scholar of the US Constitution but I'll be damned if I can find where "The constitution clearly states that the US people have the right to overthrow the government and create a new and fair one if it gets out of hand." Help me out. Is it in the preamble, one of the articles, one of the twenty seven amendments? Point me in the right direction please. If you can. And if you can't, why don't you read it before you come out with drivel like this?

I often wonder the same thing! What about the 60's & 70's when people used to stand up for what they believed in and protested corruption? We don't see that today. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer, the income gap has never been larger.

There are a no. of reasons why people don't take steps to change the government/system.
"Daddy knows best"
"I have work to do, you know? And when I'm not working I have to watch the Major League"
"You are bitching? Go and see what goes on in Asia, Africa or South America for that matter"

How do you propose overthrowing your own government?

Americans got into this mess because slightly less than half those eligible bothered to vote in the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections. In the face of apathy like that, it's not surpsing that politicians feel secure in doing whatever outrageous things they do.

A Lot of people already are trying to stand up to the government, but their not listening to us, their mostly deciding
for themselves.
There's impeachment petitions and filings by many people
in several states against George Bush and Dick Chaney, but
the democrats don't want to impeach them. they say it's off- the - table, it's too late, his term is almost over with.

good question - i think it because they came out of a very affluent period of time under clinton - they grew complacent - they thing the system works - even though they are currently blinded by the fact that it is broken.

they are flunking civic participation.

If enough people believed like you do, then obviously they would do it since we have that right as you pointed out. Since it has not occured I would say you are currently in the minority. I'm not saying I agree or disagree, just answering your question as to why.
