Yes, one of those thick tangible books that are full of facts and information. I use mine sometimes, do you? Do you even have Encyclopedias in your house? Thanks in advance to all.

Yes, I have many different Encyclopedias and Dictionaries, and use them often. In my family, we always had the habit to read them, for the pleasure of learning. :)

This is why my high school teachers always insisted on using at least 3 of the following: books, magazines, encyclopedias, videos or websites. We couldn't just use the internet only because that's not really even doing much research on it. Besides that, you can actually google "essay about the Kennedy assassination" and find one to turn in. I haven't seen a set of encyclopedias in a school in awhile (I'm 21) but they have always had 6-8 computers in each classroom. To me, that promotes just googling something rather than looking it up. I do think children should be able to use the internet, but I think they should also be able to do things without being dependent on the internet. It scares me to think people are so dependent on technology. What if the power went out for several days and the kid had to know how to cook something without using a microwave or get information about something without google? EDIT: The bad thing about it is that information goes up so fast that it's not even checked before it's published. That was proven by the guy who posted a quote that he made up, but claimed a famous person said it. The quote went into over 100,000 papers before the guy fessed up and said that he posted it on wikipedia as an experiment to see how many people take that site and use it without thinking to check the information in it. He made an excellent point with that experiment.

I use electronic encyclopedias- like DomiGold, Encarta Premium 2006 and Wikipedia. The last time I used an Encyclopedia was a few minutes ago, looking up quotations on shyness-for the quote I sent you earlier Encarta gets the credit. ;)
