Please do not try to rate any therapy by your likes and dislikes, it is a great therapy, very much like acupressure but on a smaller scale. All the reflex points are on the soles of the feet and palms. I use reflexology as a tool for diagnosis of ailments. Study anatomy and physiology and you will do fine.
If possible, try to lay your hands on any book by Dr. Eunice Ingham, Stories the Feet Can Tell.
Eunice Ingham is the founder of the theory of reflex therapy.

I have practiced reflexology on myself for about 25 years now. I would certainly rate it as useful, however it will not cure cancer or diabetes.
There are many types of body therapies that use the same mechanisims as reflexology. Shiatsu would be one example. I did a course on that, at an alternative school many years ago.
I believe that reflexology works to benefit the human body in this way. What you are doing is stimulating deep nerve plex=us=ees while at rest. Your body does not know you are at rest. There are numerous automatic functions that respond to primative physical stimulus, breathing would be one important example.
In response to hitting these nerve triggers, your body responds by releasing various chemicals into your bloodstrearm, and other cell fillled interior spaces.
These chemicals are usually helpful when doing demanding phyical work. These hormones, and other regulating molecules are released causing various physical responses from various body systems. Blood flow will increase, natural pain suppressors may be released, digestive function may be slowed down, or speeded up.
By practicing nerve stimulation you also become more aware of your body, especially the skin or tactile sense. The hand will become stronger and more sensitive to the quiet cues, you may not have been noticing before.
The major nerve plexes tends to be next to major blood vessels, naturally protected by your structure. Simply put, found in the nooks and crannies. In joining places, under bumps on bones, joints, that sort of thing. Natural separations between muscles, the termination places for muscle groups.
Your library will have some books on the subject I am sure.
Hope this is helpful.

personally, i found it as effective as seeing the best psychotherapist i know(and i've seen a bit being a therapist and a trainer of therapists!) BUT that was because of how good ie gifted, intuitive, wise and psychologically sound the practitioner was...that's a rare 'full house' to have in any of the caring professions. it's like Reiki - i've had several amazing experiences of that but my sister, fully qualified as a Reiki Master, can't actually do it 'cos she's still working HERSELF out!
whatever you decide on remember that the only real way to help people is to work on YOUR personal development...maybe reflexology is part of that? but your desire to help, and in particular your desire to help your family sets alarm bells ringing for me. why do YOU want to help other people? if the answer is 'because i have a special gift for it and my life is so sorted, i'm really content and understand the meaning of it all' then maybe you should go for it?

On what type of scale?
On Richter scale?
I give it a 4.5. Mild but with some damage to property.
On the H scale?
I give it an H4. Large whirlwind. Much damage.
5.5 on the 1-10 scale.
I have heard of it, but only heard of it working for a few limited people out of those who have tried it.
Not meant to discourage though!
Good luck!

I wish I had someone to rub my feet.
Try it, see how how it feels. Just remember it is intended to compliment conventional medicine not replace it.
