How you would you react if you met someone and have had a great time with after a few dates told you they had herpes. They said they got it from a former girlfriend. He is taking Valtrex and sex wouldnt be an issue for now because we have both agreed to not have sex until we are married. We both have had sex in the past but have decided to change our ways. Knowing all of this hoe would you react???

if i love the person.. i would sit down with a doctor and see what can be done to have safe sex.. children would not be a issue as we could not have them.. unless the doctor had a good idea for it..but yes if i love them i would.. but just dating them is not love.. love is caring more for the person then you care for your self.. but not putting your self in risk or harms way.. that is unless you have to take bullet for the one you love.. that may be diff..but i am sure there are a lot of people out there with this promblem.. your answer may be found on the health section of y/a/ the stds.they have been through it and know and can give you the ups and downs

my first response was to say I wouldn't date them anymore but then I realized that it's because I don't know enough about herpes. So I think the best advice would be to talk to a doctor or even several doctors so that you can make a decision that you can live with. Don't wait until you're getting married to find out more. Don't let the person give you the info find out for sure from a doctor.

You need to take some time to think about it.

Since you have had sex in the past this easily could have happened to you too.

I've read that 10% of the population has herpes so it's not that uncommon. At least your date was truthful with you.

Well my best friend has herpes because her ex bf cheated on her and brought it home. My friend is an awesome person and id hate to think that someone wouldnt want to date her because of that, especailly if they did not plan to have sex. If you really dont plan on having sex again until you are married and you like this guy you should totally date him! Educate yourself and be cautious and you will be fine!

No I could not. I know someone who does and she's more emotionally equipped to date someone who has herpes. I am not putting down someone who has herpes; things happen, but I just know that is something I could not deal with. And yes I know there are precautions a monogamous couple can take but nothing is 100%.

No. Plenty of people out there without herpes. Why complicate your life after a few dates.

i wouldnt date somebody with Herpes unless theres a cure for it, why get another person contaminated for life just for sex and pleasure. the person who is contaminated now has to deal with the burden or treating herpes,

thats why i prefer not to kiss on early dates....
