the best thing to do is, go online and type their websites in, most of them will give you info on the stores in your area
Like
petsmart.com
petco.com
But stay away from walmart, their fish are very badly cared for, and most of them had to shut down their fish section because of it
Hope that helps
Good luck

Any fish that captures your interest is a good pet, but I would not suggest saltwater or goldfish for beginner fishkeepers. I love goldfish and that's what I keep, but some people prefer tropicals in general or specific types of tropicals. Small tropicals are probably the easiest to keep, while saltwater and goldfish are the most difficult to keep. Bettas are one of the more "easy" fish to keep; however, that said, there is still a lot of work involved in keeping any fish and a certain level of knowledge and committment is required to successfully keep fish, just as with any pet. You ask about what the longest living fish are. Although small tropical fish only live for 2-10 years on the average, depending on the species, they are, by far, the best route for the new beginner. Goldfish can easily live 15-20 years and as much as 40 years, but, as I said, they are an extremely difficult fish to successfully keep so that they live to these long lifespans. Saltwater fish are beautiful and, once you learn about all of the ins and outs of the specific water parameters of saltwater, the keeping isn't that difficult, but then, most saltwater fish also only have that 4-12 year lifespan average. So, your intial goal should just be to learn all you can about fish and start at the beginning and the more experienced you become, the more you can start branching off into the more specific, difficult groups of fish. Good luck and have fun! Fish are beautiful and hours of interest!

I don't believe there's a list of what kind of fish each pet place carries or the prices they sell it for. Each pet store buys their fish from their own supplier. They also make their own price lists. I sell fish to the local petshops and when I go to see the fish, I notice that depending on what shop I'm at, the prices of my fish differ. From my experience, I would rather buy fish from a reputable breeder or a reputable petshop. Fish that I've bought from Walmart have had diseases.

Yes, you walk into Petco, Petsmart, or Walmart. They will have this wall of fish tanks. Below those fish tanks, there is a name of each fish and their prices.

I think it varies from store to store and region to region. Different fish are popular in different areas and I think it's up to the managers to order what they want or think will sell. Not sure you can find a list like that.

Every store varies in price and selection, constantly changes too. Better fish can be found at your locally owned, clean, competent fish store.

Do not buy fish from anything called "Mart". Most of them are not healthy and will have short lifespans.
Better off finding a local independent fish store with quality fish and hopefully educated staff.
