You need a network card. The card itself will range from about $45-$200. After that, you will need to find an internet provider, such as AT&T. It will be around $60 a month. No matter what provider you get, it will be around $60 a month, so be prepared to spend money. I was upset at the price myself, and I still do not have the network card.

If you want it "wherever you go" you are asking for pretty much. In fact, that is not likely possible. Try to access the internet from a cruise ship, from an airplane, and in rural areas for instance and you will be disappointed.

There are several more practical options. Cellular internet is offered by ATT, Verizon, and Sprint and they are becoming more available; this may work for you.

If your "wherever you go" is places that have Wireless access for no charge, then you are already covered if you have a wireless capability on your notebook.

Actually the cheapest are the complementary ones
