U had my baby 45 days ago and am still bleeding, the doctor said to just wait it out. But I am wondering how long till everyone else stopped bleeding. I have also been on birth control for almost a month.

My doctor gave me birth control pills to take at my three week check up and said to start them that following Sunday which was a few days after he gave me ortho tri-cyclen lo and said to return in two months after my samples ran out to see how i was doing on them. I phoned earlier and explained that i was still bleeding heavily but the the doctor said that it was normal and to wait it out because it could be my regular period just lasting really long. I am still concerned though because it has been 45 days

What kind of birth control are you taking? I have the Mirena IUD and it caused me to bleed for like 4 weeks afterward. I was still having some light post partumn bleeding when I first had it inserted. Also, some pills can cause this due to too much of a certain hormone, or if it's the kind that is suposed to lessen the number of periods, this sometimes causes bleeding in some people.

I am still bleeding 35 days after giving birth...it gets to the point where it has almost stopped, then it starts up again. The doctor says it's normal.

Well, you shouldn't have started birth control until you got your regular period back. However, bleeding should be finished by 42 days, and most people are done within three weeks. What kind of blood is it? If it's red, then you have an open wound that should not be there, if it's darker then it's probably old blood that is still passing.
It also depends on how easy you've been taking it. if you've been up driving around and taking care of regular chores, then you are reopening the wounds in your uterus and keeping yourself open for infection.
Good luck, i hope you feel better soon.

Hey cbrandi!
Everyone is a little different. I remember I was still spotting 45 days afterward.... I seem to remember it was less and less each day... so if you're noticing that it is tapering off, should be ok. If you're still bleeding profusely that could be a sign of something more serious and you should see your Doctor.
Good luck!

I only bled for a week and didn't start birth control until the start of my next period. Why did your doctor put you on birth control without your period starting? You are not even supposed to start any pill until your period starts. Maybe that has something to do with it. Get help please, don't "wait it out".

what kind of birth control are you on? some birth control, like an i.u.d can cause you to bleed for a while. but that usually subsides about 2 months. good luck.

If it's heavy I'd give your doctor a call and check w/ her. If anything, she can at least reassure you everything's okay.
