Kentucky has always been a Southern state. And the Civil War doesn't really have anything to do with that fact. The cultural division between the South and North is complex, but its roots lie within history a LONG time before the Civil War.

Kentucky has always been a Southern state. The Civil War doesn't really have anything to do with that fact. The cultural division between the South and North existed LONG before the Civil War. The Civil War did not create the divide between the South and North, but that divide certainly did help create the Civil War and make it possible. Also, you're failing to realize that the South has variation and diversity - the whole South isn't all exactly the same.

Even though it isn't a south as the other southern states, I do consider it a southern state. I have a friend from Kentuckey, and man does he have a thick southern accent.

I do. They make moonshine and grow tabbaky there.

I used to work with a woman from Louisville, when she discovered my wife was from Massachusetts was all upset that I'd married a Yankee.

When I was selling computers, I had this guy call me once from Paducah - he said "I bet you don't think people in Paducah Kentucky know how to run computers do you?" It was wicked funny.

I'm from Colorado.
