good heavens way back in 1955 gas was 25 cents a gallon. There was a gas war at that time and gas went down to 8 cents a gallon for about 2 hours. That was the good ol days. What a gas, seemed like we could ride for hours on a gallon. Times have really changed. Have a happy!!

It was in 1997 or 98 when I visited Knoxville, Tennessee. The price of gas was about 90 cents a gallon. We were visiting from California for Freedom School Training when we saw the sign on the side of the highway. One of my co-workers said that he felt like getting containers and purchasing the gas and taking it home with us. I told him he wouldn't be on the plane I was if he did something that crazy. At the time here in the Bay Area we were going through gas shortages and paying about 3.50 or more a gallon. Now of course it's common to see prices here closer to $5 per gallon

My oh my, only .25 a gallon in Los Angeles, in 1954! Pumped by a gas station attendant, of course. Same price as a pack of cigarettes, which we teens could easily get from a cigarette machine.Come to think of it, most paperback books were only .25 as well.
