I received a necklace but I want to know what the symbol is called so I can learn more about it.

All I know is that it stands for the four elements-water, earth, fire, and air.
Also, it looks like a swastika, but it is curved not sharp, and rotated a bit.

I think the symbol you describe is discussed.

It can be called either, but I would call it an exvlamation mark because it is typicallt compared to a question mark. Whatever you do, don't refer to it as an excited mark because it's not used only for excitement.

Given Henry C's answer, it looks to be a "Sun Sign," which also includes the four elements.

I have seen someone with that exact same necklace, except it was jade. I believe it is the eternal snake, you know what happens when two snakes eat each other by the tail? what happens to them when they reach each others head? Except for your is not complete the heads are not touching the tales.
