Ok, I am confused. I keep hearing that their is a huge problem with obesity in the U.S. (esp. in children) and that something should be done about it but when a teen asks a question about how to HEALTHILY lose weight they are told that they are too young to be watching their weight. We're being told two different things. What do they want us to do?

They want us to be healthy but they also want us to spend money on food that isn't good for us. We are trapped in the system and all we have to do is eat healthy and stay active. That sounds so old cause everyone says it but its true. It doesn't help that everyone that is loosing weight doesn't need to and isn't doin it the right way.

Unfortunately, there are a great deal of adults who do not know themselves how to eat and exercise in a healthy and productive manner. Instead of admitting this, it is far easier for them to say teens will grow out of being overweight as their height and muscle mass increases. Sadly, quite a few doctors will tell kids and teens the same thing. I wish parents would just tell the truth, and then begin to educate themselves along with their children. Eating healthy and exercising is not an altogether easy prospect. It takes dedication not only to the lifestyle, but also to the education needed. An overweight child is ultimately the responsibility of the parent. Parents need to learn how to help their children maintain a healthy relationship with food and exercise. Ideally, only when a child becomes old enough and educated enough about diet and exercise should a he or she be allowed to make decisions regarding these areas; however, if a kid knows his or her parents are not doing the job, there is no reason for the kid not to take over their health for themselves. So if you're finding that you personally need to learn how to lose weight, eat healthier, and exercise with positive results, then by all means take your parents and doctors to task over the issue, and go after obtaining all the info you can get on the subject. Just be sure you have access to an adult authority on the subject of eating and exercising, because there is A TON of false information, plans and products out there which could end up causing harm to you. Your best bets for starters is to talk to your family doctor, ask to see a licensed nutritionist who can hook you up to credible resources, and also a licensed physical trainer at a local gym (preferably one which has the backing of a hospital or medical clinic. You'll have to inquire about that.) While it's true a physical trainer can cost a lot of money, a question asked of a trainer once in a while will not be turned away, especially if it's a kid asking the question. Be careful, have fun, be healthy, and open your mind to further education beyond your school walls!

It truly all depends on how MUCH you weigh. If you are a teen and are 20lbs or more overweight, then yes you should talk with your physisian and find a healthy way to take off those lbs.. If you are just a teen with a couple extra lbs here or there then you have nothing to worry about. There are a lot of good web sites out their that can give you a pretty good estimate as to how much you should weigh depending on your Height and Age.
I think what most people fear is this idea young teenage girls have that they should look like a TWIG, and will go to extreem measures to look like their favorite anorexic, waif type looking Model, star or singer.
Your body is still growing, and a lot of what you might think of as fat is actually going to move to your breasts and hips as you mature. This is how young ladies grow to become women.
So my advise to you is to go see your DR. this yr. Most schools require some sort of physical and or shots for you to attend them. When you go, bring up your concerns about your weight to the Dr. ask him if he thinks you should lose a few lbs or if he thinks you are ok. He will then be able to advise you in the right direction.

Jesus used effortless to appreciate illustrations. whether the disciples look to appreciate that the truthful slave, untrue slave and the bride of Christ weren't unmarried persons yet sons of the dominion. "chuffed are those slaves whom the grasp on arriving reveals watching! fairly I say to you, he will gird himself and cause them to recline on the table and are available alongside and minister to them." relating all anointed believers as a human physique, Paul fantastically illustrated how the weakest individuals of the physique are to receive the perfect honor from Jehovah. At 1st Corinthians 12:19-26 Paul wrote: "in the event that they have been all one member, the place might the physique be? yet now they're many individuals, yet one physique. the attention won't be able to say to the hand: "I have not any choose of you"; or, back, the pinnacle won't be able to say to the ft: "I have not any choose of you." yet plenty quite is it the case that the individuals of the physique which look weaker are necessary, and the factors of the physique which we predict of to be much less honorable, those we encompass with greater considerable honor, and so our unseemly factors have the greater considerable comeliness, while our comely factors do no longer choose something. although, God compounded the physique, giving honor greater considerable to the section which had an absence, so as that there must be no branch contained in the physique, yet that its individuals ought to have a similar shelter one yet another. And if one member suffers, all the different individuals go through with it; or if a member is glorified, all the different individuals appreciate it."

When people say things like that, they're really just looking out for your body image. There are so many anorexic celebrities in the world today that we really want to be protective of teens and how they view themselves.
