Orange Broadband is fine until you have a problem with the service, at which point they're the most horrendously inept company I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with.

I love talking to people from different cultures, but I really fail to see how a guy in a call centre in India with an impenetrable accent who knows less about broadband than I do (which is very little) is the best person to tell me how to fix my net connection.

I'd do a little research if I were you and find a company with recommendations from people who a) have had difficulties and b) still recommend them.

Yeah, it's true but the FREE laptop is a lemon and is grossly underpowered. You'll need to spend at least £30 (if the deal is still on) to put enough memory in it. 256MB will run Windows Xp but if you want the Internet or Word or anything else, you need to add extra RAM... XP is a bit of a hog and 256MB is the absolute minimum.

The best option means you have to spend £200 and still sign up for a 24 month contract.

My advice is spend £100 and take the Compaq laptop before everybody else gets them.

It's the lesser of the evils offered. Say no to Advent, Packard Bell and Ei.

And the laptops aren't that much cop...

I've had orange broadband for a while and haven't had any issues with it yet! The bonus for me is that its free with my mobile contract.
I haven't had AOL so can't compare them but orange is good!

experian agent is soooo incorrect. there are a number of categories of media now to get severe velocity information superhighway over. of direction you comprehend there is dialup.....its analog....its sluggish. ISDN is the old way of piggy backing dialup modems to get speedier velocity and could provide you a max of 128 kbps on a great day. The slowest broadband is sattelite - duh- as a results of latency required for the sign to pass as much as area and lower back. authentic you will get it everywhere and its respectable - this is it. you are able to browse information superhighway pages quickly. The max you will get by utilising way of sky is 312 kbps. I even have seen classified ads for a million & 2 mbps sattelite centers yet do no longer comprehend how good this is. i comprehend there's a 4 - 9 2nd latency on all sattelites.... do no longer attempt to play any multiplayer video games! ADSL comes over you telephone line. it stands for Asynchronous digital subscriber line. Asynchronous skill your upload velocity is slower than your get carry of velocity. telephone lines are not thick adequate for transmitting greater than 768kbps. you are able to upward thrust as much as 3 mbps downstream. authentic DSL comes over a cable modem. as a results of thick RG-6 cable used on your digital television, it enables 7 - 10 mbps SYNCHRONOUS. it relatively is the appropriate for living house consumers who ought to run a private information superhighway server, gaming server, run 10 desktops on the comparable connectiong..and so on. Then there are your corporation information superhighway suggestions that require fiber optic cable to be ran...........very high priced from T1 11mbps to an OC3 133 mbps. I have no concept what orange is yet i 'm guessing sky is sattelite information superhighway.....pass orange if its no longer sattelite.
