Catcher In The Rye. It seems to be a favorite of assassins. John Hinkley Jr. (the guy who shot Reagan to impress Jody Foster) was also obssessed with the book. The Zodiac killer also left a copy at the scene of one his crimes. It's also been linked to the Son Of Sam killer and Charles Manson. Catcher In The Rye seems to appeal to outcasts and pyschopaths.
