Because people who are capable of getting a date to go to a movie on Saturday night don't go to see Harry Potter movies.

Harry Potter is a book that people can read also besides seeing the movie. There have been so many Harry Potter movie's that maybe most people would rather see it when it comes out on video/DVD. Also there are ALOT of people who like Adam Sandler & Kevin James, their moves aren't the alike or almost the same in every movie like Harry Potter is. You sorta know what to expect in Harry Potter movies. There are also probably more people that would rather see a comedy with those 2 actors then a Harry Potter movie again. I like both of them, and I will watch both of them, but when it came to what I'd rather spend my money on seeing at the movie theater - it was "I Now Pronounce you Chuck and Larry" which I thought was definitely worth my money. I also saw Happy Potter 7, BUT I didn't pay for it, and I wouldn't have paid for it. when you have so many movies with the same titles..just changing it from 4 to 5 to 6 to 7...it gets kind of old.

First, not everyone on this planet is a Harry Potter fan - I for one have never seen any of the movies, nor have I read any of the books, and actually about everyone I know is the same. Second, it would seem that Chuck and Larry opened the same weekend that the new Harry Potter book came out. Which means the masses of Harry Potter geeks were at home reading a book, not at the theatre watching the movie.

Because more people paid to see I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry than they did to see Harry Potter this week.

because Chuck and Larry just came out, and Harry Potter 7 is a book. They're non-comparable. Also, if you're talking about the Harry Potter movie that was released recently, it's been out a few weeks and naturally will fall in the box office.

Because all the Harry Potter fans were at home reading the new book.

Because of all the hoopla about the last book - people were going to buy copies of the book rather than going to see the movie. Stupid to have them both premier the same week. Expect Harry Potter the movie to do better this weekend however, once everyone had finished reading the book!

I heard Harry Potter the movie wasn't that great and dragged throughout the movie.

Because there are more Adam Sandler fans than there are Harry Potter fans. Also the die hard Harry Potter fans were at home reading the latest book and not at the movies.
