original Q: so i was cleaning my room and i found my old pokemon gold version.

i was kinda happy but when i played it i found out that when "saved" the data, it didnt save. it just appears as "new game" on the opening menu.

why is this?

A: old GB games used a battery to store data when the gameboy turned "off".

new Q: Is there a way to replace the battery or fix this problem so the game works again?

Yes, you can replace the battery. You'll just need to get a new one at wal-mart.

I believe that the battery that is used in the old gameboy games are similiar to watch batteries. You might try going to a game repair shop, or a watch store and see if they can get into it and change it out.

My friend replaced the battery by opening the game and replacing the battery with one he got from wallgreens . Get it there. It's only about around 4-7$.

The game restarts when you take the game out of the gameboy. Leave it in there and it shouldn't be a problem.

Yeah the DS does besides. it is going to stick out and sense strange yet your hands wont be interior the way. So yeah have at it guy. Play tetris till your battery dies! (i admire tetris).
