ive heard the the campus is where you sleep, but ive also heard that the campus is the garden of the university, so i dont know wich one to call stupid, so, is the campus the garden or the dormitory?

no, the campus is just the entire property of the university. the dormitories are the living quarters for the students.

The dormitories are sitting on the campus, so are the other buildings at the university, and the parking lots and roads, and lawns, ect. All the land owned by that university, out to the fence or outside wall is the Campus.

I second all the other answers so far, but want to add that some universities/colleges insist on referring to them as "residence halls" and not "dormitories. (I never quite understood the distinction.) And, "campus" is used in more than just higher education circles, such as any entity that has multiple structures on the same property, such as a high school, or one chemical company I know of, or even a church.

The campus is the whole environment. This includes the dorms, the classrooms, the libraries, the labs. Everything. The campus is all of the physical property that shares the university address.
