My boyfriend and I love each other and know that we both want to spend our lives together but are at odds about when is the right time to get married. (We have everything together as far as financials, living situations, views on kids and holidays, etc.) He wants to get married before he deploys to Iraq and I don't know if I'm ready to make the jump just yet... I was thinking we should get married when he gets back, what do ya'll think?

I would want to know why he wants to get married b4 deployment. Is he worried about your relationship if he is so far away? Worried about your well being if something should, God forbid, happen to him over there? Talk about these things and find out his real reasons. If you love him and you know that you are going to marry him maybe a small ceremony b4 he goes would ease his mind a little – then you can have a blowout party when he gets back (I don’t know how long until he leaves). My brother-in-law is going thru the same thing with his gf right now. It’s a tough life!!! Tell your bf he will be in my prayers and thank you to both of you for your sacrifices to keep us safe!!!!!

You know when you rise in the morning and is always happy to be in his arms. When you get all excited inside every time you get alone with him. When it still feels like the first time you met, and kiss, and told each other you love them. When you know everything about each other and you still keep holding on. When you talk on the phone for hours when one or the other are away. When he is your lover and friend. When he is the man of your dreams and when y'all are deeply in love. You may never see him for a really long time. If you feel the way I explained above then there is no doubt that you should get married. Your not getting any younger.

He wants to marry you before he leaves because he doesnt want to lose you and he will need to know he has someone at home that loves and supports him. Thats a tough tour of duty and he needs you by his side even if you aren't in Iraq.

Theres no problem with his idea... if you are serious about this. Why wouldn't you want to get married asap if you truly truly loved him...

I agree with you. If you are not ready just yet, then do NOT do it. If he loves you enough to respect your decision, then he will wait until you are ready.
