The best way to position an infant to sleep is always on their back. If your little one prefers the side (still much safer than sleeping on the stomach) you can roll two receiving blankets and place one on the front side and one behind the baby for support. I used to also put a rolled blanket at the top of my son's head to make him feel snug and secure. just make sure they are rolled tight so there is not a bunch of slack to prevent suffocation.

The unfortunate truth is that doctors don't really know what causes SIDS...so we do our best and hope a lot...
We used receiving blankets, rolled them up like crepes, and put them on either side of Sleeping Baby. Worked out fine. Newborns don't wiggle around very much, and by the time they're old enough to wiggle in their sleep, the SIDS risk is much diminished.
Good luck--

well, thats basically a home-made sleep positioner.. i think the only way it helps reduce sids is by keeping the baby from rolling on her stomach..
i roll up a blanket and put it under my son's sheet, b/c he likes to sleep on his side.. He would never fall asleep on his back, and there was no way i'd lay him face down.. So it worked for us!

If you want to put your baby to sleep in 20 seconds you must get the "Instant Baby Sleep" MP3 sound track. Here is their official web-site: http://www.instantbabysleep.net
The sound track gently produces energy over the full human hearing spectrum with an embedded pulse that gently eases the brain to the Alpha state well known for drowsiness and sleep induction.

While my baby was in ICU ..this is what the nurses did for her bed , they rolled up receiving blankets and formed a "U" shape to support her head, while laying on her back. She has GERD .

i've seen something similar to that at the stores. also, when babies are first born the nurses roll up sheets and put them on their sides too.

Actually, recent studies have recommended NOT using anything to prop the baby on unless they have acid reflux. The baby can turn their head and get their face against them.
