Rumor has it that Atlanta wants Vick to stay away until he puts this situation behind him, assuming he ever does. Most likely he will be given a suspension of at least four regular-season games and will be excluded from training camp. After that, a lot depends on what happens with the legal issues and whether there are additional revelations of animal abuse, above and beyond what's already come out.
I think Vick will play again, but not this year and not necessarily for Atlanta. I think that if Atlanta's management feels that Vick's presence is going to be a continuing distraction to the team, they'll deal him. Rumor has it that the team's owner is pretty irate that Vick apparently lied to him about Vick's involvement in dogfighting.
Vick is talented enough that he can come back from this, but he has to do a couple of things first: settle his legal problems ASAP to stop the flow of news relating to the dog fighting. Then he has to show some genuine, heartfelt contrition that shows he understands how repulsive his involvement in dogfighting is, that he understands that the cruelty inherent in dogfighting is something decent people don't condone or associate themselves with. Then he has to somehow mend his fences with the groups like PETA that are not going to forget or forgive lightly. Finally, he has to manage to avoid further trouble of any sort, which probably means ditching a lot of his "friends" and possibly even some family members.
If he can do that, I think he will be able to continue his career in the NFL. I'd like to believe that his playing days are over, but the NFL really doesn't care about character, or animal cruelty, or being family-oriented. They just want to pretty up their image, so if Vick can cosmeticize his problems and keep out of further trouble, he'll stay. In a year or two this will all be old news and some other player will be in trouble and in the spotlight. If Vick can get a championship, unfortunately all will be forgiven.

He doesn't deserve to play and the NFL commissioner is tired of all the stuff these players get away with. I think he should never play again and go to jail. If the was your neighbor, for the gruesome crimes he did, trust me he would be so jail bird. In addition anyone who does what Vick does is not a stable person

Unfortunately he will play. Professional athletes get away with lot of things these days and after a while ppl will some what forget.(he might even publicly apologize) NFL will slap him on the hand and he will be back playing. it's a shame but that's what always happens

I've been reading about this on espn.com alot and they are saying that the commissioner of the NFL doesn't know what to do about it because he is not a repeat trouble maker... which to me says that nothing will happen to Vick. Which is not right.

It depends on the outcome of his trial.
If he's convicted, most likely his NFL career is over.
If he's acquitted, most likely he'll be suspended for 4 games minimum for violating the NFL's conduct policy.
FYI...there are bigger problems in the NFL than being a SUSPECTED animal abuser. Things like drug & alcohol abuse, steroids, spousal abuse, etc.

I would have to say yes only because he has not been prov en guilty and if he does go to the slammer when he get out he still has a right to seek employment.
And believe me some team would pick him up.

I hope not. I hope he starts out jail as a "tight end," and in a few weeks becomes a "wide receiver!"

Yes, but if he is found guilty, we should boycott any team who employs him and boycott any sponsor who participates in a televised game of his.
