Its an alternate reality. Since all the final fantasy have not been in the same dimension or relaity so to speak. Cloud shouldn't exsist in Squalls world, sephiroth in Vivi's.
Kingdom Hearts is a different reality/dimension as well so they can all exsist. Cloud and Sephiroth are bitter enemies, but Tifa and Aerith are both longing for Cloud.

aerith/aeris was an ancient,she could "feel" what the planet was thinking,so was a threat to sephiroth, also sephiroth killed her to get hold of the materia within her and NO cloud didnt want her dead, he just couldnt save her in time lol
