Well with all the billions of stars out there and the billions of planets that we now know are fairly common in star systems. It is inevitable that there is another earth like planet out there somewhere that may have life, and chances are there is even intelligent life on a planet somewhere out there.

However, the physics and engineering involved and the mass distances involved in traveling from star-to-star let alone galaxy-to-galaxy make it highly unlikely we are being visited by extraterrestrial life forms.

Physics tells us that nothing travels faster than the speed of light. So with this SPEED LIMIT imposed upon us. Even if we could travel 99% the speed of light and traveled to the closest star to our sun it would take several years for the round trip there and back again.

We would need several years of food, water, and fuel. So it would require a large ship capable of hauling all this. Quite an investment in and of itself.

Remember also that time is relative. This means that as you travel faster and approach the speed of light time passes more slowly for you. So as you travel there and back you would age the 4 years or so it would take to get there and return. During your absence the earth and all of its occupants would age more like decades.

Any species that had tackled these engineering problems and solved the problems would be so far beyond us in technology and understanding we would have trouble communicating with them.

Imagine trying to discuss a cell phone or calculator or a car to a Neaderthal man? How could you converse? Your concepts of reality are far apart.

Now if you were from a far advanced starfaring species and you arrived here and could see how humans will kill each other over the color of their skin, the tribe they belong too, their nationality, their religeon, their sex, and most of all greed etc..... You also see how they destroy and pollute the planet that sustains their own existence would you really want to stop and get to know them or would you leave a hazard marker to ensure others of your species avoided the place?

Don't get me wrong there is a lot of good here also, but look at it from a completly alien perspective. Due to the many hurdles to overcome, I highly doubt there is an alien species living among us, and I believe most UFO sightings can be scientifically debunked or are just that, a flying object that just cannot be identified or is possibly a test bed for military technology.

It would be very interesting if your friend was right though. My what an interesting time to live. Hopefully, they will be peaceful.
But you never know...remember Independence Day the movie?

Yes.
His initials are JB. You figure that out.
On the serious side.....Too many things happen in different parts of the world ( concerning UFOS) that are reported by different people for these reports (concerning UFOS and aliens) not to be authentic.
At the Fort Eustis, Virginia Transportation Museum, there is an experimental aircraft that is quite interesting. It is round and flat like the average flying saucer. It is do-nut shaped with a fan (used for lift) in the middle. There is a story in the Bible about an aircraft that Elijah (Ithink it was him) seen that.was referred as a "Wheel in the middle of a wheel". (Someone please explain this)
This resembles the experimental aircraft at the transportation Museum, draw your own conclusions.

I believe "aliens" are fallen angels, and they will help usher in a one world government & religious system. The plan to thwart the return of Jesus has been going on before anyone was on the Earth. There is plenty of evidence to support Biblical prophecy being fufilled, and the current events in the world would support this notion of having an other-world force come to Earth & make demands for humans to save themselves.

They're real of course, we can't get any more thick headed to think we're the only living thing in the universe that's somewhat intelligent.
I don't know about 2010, but maybe. Any thing's possible.

How could anyone possibly know this.

Aliens (if they exist) live on planets that are hundreds of light years away. Why would they travel for a 100 years to visit us.

SPACE aliens.

All we know is that so far, we haven't found a planet that could support human life.

Aliens COULD, in theory, exist.
