The day before yesterday i woke up with pain in my throat and my lips were really dry. It went away, but yesterday evening my bottom lip got swollen on one side, and now it's swollen on the outside of the lip and on the inside, and it looks like it has some clear fluid. Also i feel like the left side of my jaw hurts, close to where the glands are.

My sister told me that it could be a cold sore, but i have never had one. I bought some Abreva a while ago, but i dont know if this will help or if i need to see a doctor.

I forgot to mention that i have been under a lot of stress these days and that i have not slept well either.
And the swelling is not on the entire bottom lip, it's more like two bumps on the left side, the one on the outside has a small scab, and the one inside looks a bit red, but it looks like they both have a small amount of clear fluid.

And do forgive me for the amount of graphic descriptions, i know it can sound a little gross.. lol.

Abreva is only good when you first feel the effects, and if you have never had one then it is hard to know just what is going on. It sounds to me like you have one, and it is a bad one. Thats how I get them....its awful. Make sure and make an appointment to see the doctor as soon as possible. It is better to have a doctor look at it, and let you know what is going on. It could be infected.....If it is a cold sore, ask for zoverax...it is amazing. As soon as you start using it, the swelling will go down, and In 2 days it will be gone.

To be honest with you, it sounds like you have herpes. It's more common than most people think. Being that your glands are swollen, that's definite sign of some sort of infection. Go see your doctor to be on the safe side.

I hope it gets better. Good luck!

Not likely a cold sore. See a doctor right away. Sounds like and infection. Not good, not good at all. Go to the doctor now as in today.

sometimes fever blisters or cold sore will cause your whole lip to swell, tomorrow you should know if it is a cold sore..if you can't tell and the abreva doesn't help then go to your doctor.
