I read some were on the net that the reason your book of harry potter is like a 100 pages longer than the uk's is because they have pictures

I only asked the question in a rude way so people would answer me. If i had asked why is the American version longer and why does it have pictures. i wouldn't of got as many answers

There are 3 differences between the British and Americans books

The Americans have larger print for whatever reasons, have illustrations at the beginning of chapters and some of the slang has been changed.

Nobody is stupid. You really know how to make people dislike you don't you??

All that said, I'm in Canada and we get the British version.

You silly teenage girls from the UK. Use your heads, please. Do you really think there are 100 pages worth of pictures in the American version of Deathly Hallows?

The page difference is most likely due to a difference in font type or font size. I slight change in font size multiplied hundreds of times is a more logical solution.

Don't believe every single thing you read on the interenet. And by the way, insulting Americans by asking this question based on shear ignorance makes you look like the stupid one.

The only pictures I've seen in the Harry Potter books are the cover art. And the adult versions are just more detailed artworks, with a less cartoon look to them. It's just for aesthetics. So if you have the book on your shelf it doesn't look like a children's book. And as far as I know they did sell both versions in the US.

I wasn't aware of two versions of the book. The copy I purchased seems to have the same cover art (done by the same artist) as the prior books. The only other artwork I see in the book is at the heading of each chapter. Am I missing something?

Lighten up a bit. How is calling people stupid ever going to help anything? Anyway what's wrong with having pictures in the book? Artists have to eat too.

excuse me, we are not stupid, the only pictures i have seen are at the beginning of the chapters, and they are just small, and the cover art, what are you talking about pretty pictures?

The choice of what artwork to use in each country is based on a) taste and b) target audience. It has nothing to do with intelligence.

Americans have become use to getting more bang for their buck.

Also - the publisher probably did this intentionally to appeal to a wider audience (younger audience). It all about the $$ after all...
