i have an upside down catfish ...me and my boyfriend have had it for a about 3 months, and everything seemed to be fine but yesterday we found the fish was completlely see through and the upside down catfish are very nicely spotted, so i took out 50% of the water and added some clean. he seemed to be getting his color back by the time i went to bed, i woke up this morning and he was dead:( his color had compeltely come back other than one spot on his side. he alomost looked like he had ich but why would the color show back up ? we have one other catfish it is a bumble bee catfish and he is doing well . if ich goes from fish to fish why is my other fish perfectly fine, and yes i have inspected.?

It sounds like a temperature problem. If it was less than 73 degrees, that was likely the problem. When to cold, many fish begin to lose their coloration. The Bumblebee can stand temperatures of as low as 70 so that might be why it survived. I would definitely treat the Bumblebee for ick, but only a light treatment. Good luck!

it could still have been ich, some fish are strong enought to fight it just like any other animal with a virus. You could look in to treating ich in the other fish . But watch out some treatment can make them sick if they do not have it so make sure to read the container.

Good question....I once caught 3 wild catfish-type fish and they only lasted 24 hours, and before they died they turned white, like yours. How long did you have this fish before it died? Did you get it from a pet store? Mine must have died because of the wrong water and temp...but anyways this is a very tricky question! :-)
