Considering they tried to impeach Clinton on grounds of having an extramarital affair and both Guliani and Thompson are well known philandering pigs.

Wouldn't it be double standard and hypocrisy all over again?

(I know they impeached Clinton for perjury, you don't have to remind me-but they tried on grounds of an affair)

Are you kidding? That would simply be the cherry on the hypocritical sundae. It would be like Barry Bonds saying, "Make me commissioner of baseball, and I'll punish Jason Giambi for using steroids." (Giambi as the Clinton equivalent, because he confessed and apologized.)

At least Thompson and McCain, and, let's not forget, Ronald Reagan and Bob Dole appeared to get it right the second time around, so I wouldn't call them "pigs." Giuliani and Newt Gingrich, on the other hand, needed three tries. (And counting?) The way they treated Wives 1 and 2, if I were a pig, I'd sue upon comparison to those guys. Rush Limbaugh couldn't make it work with Number 3.

It would mean that some were hypocrites. It's unfair to generalize and condemn the entire GOP.

Just to play devil's advocate, maybe the GOP is evolving. Maybe they realize now that having affairs has nothing to do with a politicians ability to make policy and govern, and issues like that shouldn't even come up in discussion, when there are issues of policy to tackle.

If they nominate one of those guys, they will have abandoned everything they believed in, for the hope of power. Giuliani is pro-abortion and pro-IRS. The only thing he agrees with them on is that stupid bipartisan War on Iraq. Thompson is a former lobbyist for an abortion company and is a complete fake. The only thing he really cared about during his decade or so in Congress was passing Campaign Finance Reform (he was instrumental in passing that McCain-Feingold law most Republicans hate).

If they nominate either of those jokers, they will have sold their souls in their quest for power. They can then sit and watch as President Hillary Clinton enacts full-blown socialism.

Clinton was not impeached for having an affair. That statement is absolutely fallacy. Clinton was impeached for lying to a grand jury.

Past philandering doesn't bother me whether it be Giuliani, Thompson, or Clinton. I look at FDR, JFK, and LBJ who all had good points as president and were involved in extra marital affairs.

No. A hypocrite is someone who is currently doing the "deed," while preaching against it. An ex drug addict who has quit drugs is NOT a hypocrite for telling others not to use drugs. Everyone makes mistakes, but we should all try and do the "right" thing.

It's Democrats who like to lower the bar of personal behavior. Then when they fail they can say: I never said fooling around on my wife was bad? This is how we should live our lives?

After years of watching MTV, I no longer find adultery or philandering to be offensive. . .

Look at everybody that's running. Not much to choose from... and Thompson's wife is half his age, so more power to him... I can imagine a healthcare system under him with free Viagra for everyone...

I love it when you folks pick and choose. Clinton is a criminal scumbag and so's his wife. Nothing you try to do will wipe away that slime (no matter how hard we hope it goes away).

But if anyone knows hypocrisy it'd be Hitlery.

No, it means we do not want to go Socialist like, Hillary, Obama, or Edwards. Or with someone who is irrelevant and blames 9/11 on America, like Ron Paul.
