I bought a pair of canvas shoes to decorate for a friend. I don't want the marker to bleed if she walks in the rain or anything, so what type should I use?

Just thought that I'd mention that you can't come to Australia "for up to a year" as a tourist. You would need a specific type of visa, possibly a work & holiday one if you are aged 18-30, but other than that it's not on the cards.

I agree with #1, but you can also try a fountain marker, you can get those at Walmart or some kind of store like that.

fabric markers that are sold in fabric stores won't wash off.
sharpies shouldn't either.
you can also pick up - if they still sell them where you live- the bottles of squeeze paints that come in bright colors, glitters, puff paints, glow in the dark...
should be in the fabric/clothing craft area
