Vitter claimed that marriage was the backbone of civilization, using that as an excuse for submitting a bigotry-laden bill. All the while, he knew he'd cheated on his wife. It's not about adultery, it's about hypocrisy. It's about saying "I'm better than you," when it's obvious that you're not.
And Bill Clinton is still the best President of your lifetime. Unless you're old enough to qualify for Social Security and Medicare, which, being a right-wing fanatic, you probably oppose anyway, so you might as well send your checks back to the government to help us liberals pay off Dubya's deficit over the next eight years.

The only difference between the various hypocrisies involved with either party is that the Dems don't seem to parade their party's moral superiority as a political device. Giuliani moved his bimbo into the mayoral residence...and Foley had phone sex with a young page. Neither of these guys were invisible in their activities--everyone knew but nobody cared. Find something else as an issue and you may get better results...hanky-panky by the pols is older than dirt, and scarcely a measurement of their ability on the job.

"Family values" is a meaningless talking point that everyone still feels they have to throw around, as if it has anything to do with politics. Which it doesn't. Politicies have almost no effect on how individual families interact, and nobody views politicians as role models, so it doesn't matter if they have "strong family values," or "weak" ones.
It's something that politicians bring up because they feel obligated, or feel that they can disgrace the other candidate, because they might be perceived as being light on "family values."
It's like religion - irrelevant when it comes to making policy and doing the job a politician is supposed to do.

Well, that's because you're still deeply confused.
Dems don't care about Vitter's sex life. They care that he goes around trying to dictate everyone else's sex life and then reveals himself as a huge hypocrite. But maybe that's too much high levil thinking for you.

Given how many Republicans have committed adultery -- it's hard to see how they have any claim to be supporters of Family Values.
But also consider that your definition of family values may differ from theirs. Not all cultures or religions look at things the same way.
Liberals (hence many Democrats) allow people to have different moral standards, based on their own religions, and only hold people to what those people choose to follow. It's only Conservatives (hence most Republicans) that try to enforce one set or religious/moral judgments on everyone.
In other words, what happened between Bill and Hillary as spouses is between them, and has nothing to do with whatever else they have done in political arenas.

Hey, troll...I got your "family values" right here!
Cons resist universal access to contraception and comprehensive sex education, in favor of a miserably failed "abstinence program."
All the while, our the teen pregnancy rate is more than nine times higher than that in the Netherlands, nearly four times higher than the rate in France, and nearly five times higher than that in Germany.
Not only that, our teen abortion rate is nearly eight times higher than the rate in Germany, nearly seven times higher than that in the Netherlands, and nearly three times higher than the rate in France.
Where's your "family values" now, con?

I lead by example by teaching my children values.
I guess some CONS just want to pawn off the job to a random guy elected every four years.

Guliani, McCain......the Dems are the only one's running people who haven't had more than one wife. Guliani has had three, one of which was his cousin.
