People get the words refurbished, re-manufactured and used mixed up.
Refurbished means there was something minor wrong with it which has been fixed. It can not be call "new", so it is refurbished. Typically these are minor parts or cosmetic repairs. Some are even "open box" stock, which is new but something was missing from the box because it was opened.
Re-manufactured means a major component was replaced and all systems were inspected and tested by qualified personnel. Look for the words "factory remanufactured" would indicate by the company which made the product originally (but not always).
Used, of course, means used. No one has done anything to it, but maybe clean it up a little.
Just beware what you are getting and ask lots of questions. If the seller is offering it refurbished, ask for some sort of guarantee in writing.

Refurbished is something that was repaired and pass the quality test and in good order now.
It really depends where you get it from and you have to ready the store policy carefully. I bought two refurbished SONY universal remotes from SONY outlet store and they offered 60 days return policy and all the refurbished items has the same 1 year warranty as the non-refurbished items. It's been more than a year and my refurbished remote still working great.

usually refurbished means that something was repaird and replaced. Also, it implies it is a used computer.
If you can find out what is refurbished, then that might help.
I believe hard drives have a life expectency of 5 years. If the refurbished computer has an old hard drive, then I'd be wary of it.

Refurbished is parts were replaced. It's not a new product. I would not buy anything refurbished on ebay or any other place for that matter. That's just me.

Be careful with eBay and refurbs. Check feedback and return policies.

i would only buy refurbished equipment from a manufacturer (but that's just my opinion), refurbished is usually "like new" items.

Refurbished is something that was sent back to the factory to be repaired and presumably is in good order now.

It means that it has been rebuilt.I had a TI calculator that I got at Big Lots and it worked fine.If I got a refurb,I would get it from a reputable place.
Dell sells computers that way on its site.It is a good idea to tread lightly with rebuilt though.
