is your pediatrician concerned? if not dont worry about it. every baby is different and drinks different. sounds to me like he is a healthy baby and "normal". if you are concerned i would call and talk to the dr/nurses. it might be a phase, it might be that is just how your son is
i had twins , a boy and a girl, my daughter had acid reflux and always had a sore tummy and didnt eat much at all, but was healthy and thriving. my son ate me out of house and home, drink his bottle and then finish his sisters. every baby is different

I don't understand why you are concerned - is he happy, healthy and thriving? If so, you have no worries. You say nothing that makes me think you should be concerned.
You can't *make* him drink more and it seems he is having all he can manage if he always has the 17oz. Don't let website figures dictate what your baby should be having - it can only ever be guidelines and all babies are different.
Don't even pay strict attention to the charts - your boy is a little baby, not a figure on a chart. As long as you feel he is growing and healthy, let him eat what he does.

I am a parent of three children ages 14, 11 and 2. Although I did not breast feed, I bottle fed. I have a question? Do you feed your baby food (meaning beech-nut, gerber or your own food). If you are then that is why your baby is drinking less milk. If you are not feed your baby then I think you should start because he is at a age where he is supposed to be eating food and getting other nutrition. Maybe you should expess your concern to your doctor and maybe they could start him on another type of milk. I hope this was helpful to you.

you don't measure any food intake on an infant or child by day. You measure the quantity of food intake per week. Also when children have a cold and can't taste their food the tend to not eat as much. As long as your baby is gaining weight, and does not seem to be in any distress. You can always call your baby's doctor and ask questions over the phone or ask an on call nurse.

He could simply be craving more substantial food. At six months, he should be having a little more cereal than what you are giving him. It may be time to start on the baby veggies and whatnot.
He's not eating enough based on some info from the internet....what does your doctor say? I'm sure he's eating enough for HIM, not all the other babies considered in the statistics you've read.

NEVER make a baby eat when they are not hungry. This will lead to you having a child that is obese, and at risk for Type II diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Heart problems, etc. As long as he is gaining weight he is fine. Do make sure that he gets his liquid vitamins, though.

If he isn't eating you might want to get him checked out. I remember after a few days I was born on December 25 the previous year my parents my parents realized that I wasn't eating good. They took me to the doctors and I had to get open heart surgery after they found out what was wrong with me. My advice would be to take him to the doctor.

Why do you feel he is not eating enough? If you son is developing at a normal rate, and your doctor doesn't express any concern, I wouldn't be worried.
