What made you finally decide to get a cell phone?

I'm interested in hearing from people who were reluctant to get a cell, not from people who got one as soon as they could.

I finally got one when I realized it would only cost about $5 per month for the small amount I would use it (through Virgin Mobile).

i got one when i was on the transplant list so i could be reached no matter where ever i was.

Emergency use, my boyfriend and I go fourwheeling alot and a cell phone is a MUST, they come in handy and so far we have never had a problem with not getting reception. We take it with us whenever we go camping and horseback riding too. At first I thought a cell phone was a stupid idea, I hate talking on the phone alot, but it really does make sense having one on you just in case if you need help, I mean 911 is only a few seconds away.

I didn't get one until I started college after I graduated high school; i graduated in 2003. My parents got me one for christmas, pre-paid and everything. This was due to the fact I had no desire in getting one and they couldn't handle the fact that they had no way of reaching me. Not until they paid for one and gave it to me is when i got my first cell.

No telemarketer calls. Got rid of my land line. Plus, all my family and the majority of my friends have Sprint. I get unlimited Sprint to Sprint phone calls for free.

I was able to find one in my price range.

I'm frugal... $14.95 for the phone
$19.95 a month for 60 minutes and minutes last for 45 days.

I only want it for emergencies.
