Haflingers are very versitile pony-horses. I take hunter/jumper lessons on several different Haflingers. They can jump upto 2feet and 6 inches

other 2 cents--Haflingers are fun to ride. they have a great trot and they look at everything that they pass. They try to impress and they love attention!!!

I was just at an Eventing show and the girl took 1st place was on a Half Linger. She only had to jump 2'3" but they can jump.

yes. They may not be able to jump Olympic fences but a good 3 feet of course. I have seen a quarter horse that looks like it should be a cutting horse clear a 5 foot fence. It was the most muscular horse I saw at the jumping show. So yeah they can jump fences. Just dont take them too high

I used to have a Halflinger gelding in my training barn. He was a sporty little horse (though quite heavy boned and short coupled), and did well on the flat for lessons and showing. We used to allow the school kids to jump him 2 foot pretty regularly, though he didn't excell at it. The confirmation just isn't there in comparision to a TB or a Warmblood. It would be like saying can a Warmblood run barrels...probably, but not as good as a nice Appendix QH.

All breeds of horses can jump, its just that some jump better than others, depending on age, health, conformation, training, and height of the jump(s). Some breeds jump better than others, due to breeding. Halflingers can jump, but you'd have better, bigger jumps coming from warmbloods or thoroughbreds or a breed along those lines.

As with all horses, yes, they can jump. Just not as high a jump as say an Oldenburg or Warm-blood.

They're only about 13 hands high, you know.

I believe that Halflingers are very qualified to jump. They are sturdy ponies, that have athletic ablity, and strong muscles and bones. Although I have never rode one but would love to have one for a pony hunter jumper, I would probably worry more with them being clumsy

Almost any breed can jump. It depends more on the horses conformation, health, and how big you are jumping.
