Mass Number= Number of Protons + Number of Neutrons
Mass Number=17+18
=35

If Z=17, the atom is chlorine Cl
with 18 neutrons the atomic mass is 17+18=35
so nucleus is Cl35 and has the ion has one more electron than proton it is a negative ion
