Any suggestions on what other fish and ornaments I can add in? I know I need a minimum of 5 tiger barbs, could I add more? Any answer would be most appreciated.

I don't think tiger barbs get to 10 inches long, but to only 3 inches.

With a 20 gallon tank, you could fit about 15-18 tiger barbs, assuming that you will take care of them and keep up the water change. If you are planning to get more fish other than tiger barbs, then put the tiger barbs in last so the first fish could settle in and be peaceful and don't get stress. If you get just tiger barbs, then you can add all of them at the same time. If you see any fighting in the first day that you added them. Change where the ornaments are now to different places. They are territorial and changing the places of the ornaments will change their territories and give the new comers some chance to catch up.

As for set-up, mostly densely planted, not to planted but with a lot of swimming rooms. I would recommend you get at least 6 fish at a time. Don't put all of them at the same time.

Driftwood and some live plants would be perfect for you tank. You could also add some rocks and cave like stuctures.

Don't forget to change the water and do the maintenance one a week or bimonthly.

Good Luck!

In a 20 gallon, don't keep more than 10 Tiger Barbs. They each get about 10 inches long, so too many would stress them out. Just don't put in any slow moving fish with long fins (like Bettas or Guppies). Some Dwarf Gouramis and a Redtailed Shark would be your best options.

You could have all tiger barbs if you wanted, Maybe 15,(the 1 inch of fish per gal does not true). Just dont add them all at once. And dont add anything like a betta or guppy as barbs are nippy and will shred there tails.
