I have just bought some minnows and i bought some cold water fish food forgetting they r kind of tropical.... can they eat it?

Sure, it should be a fine staple food for them. I would suggest you add some bloodworms, daphnia, blackworms, brine shrimp or similar meaty frozen foods at least 2-3 times a week for them though.

By "cold water food" do you mean goldfish food? Goldfish food contains mostly vegetable material, which is good for goldfish. Tropical fish food contains other materials, plant and insect matter. You could feed the goldfish food to your minnows with a supplement such as bloodworms or tubiflex worms.

Btw, "rosey red" minnows are a type of goldfish in case that's the type you have.

Most fish would eat most of the food given to them but they might not get as much nurtition as if they are feed with tropical food or the food they really need. Mostly, If you can't find any food for your fish, just get some earthworms from your backyard or try going back to the pet store and getting some of the right ones.

minnows eat that and bread if you want them to beef up in size you need to toast some bread and scrape off some every other day.. you must make it really fine in size so their mouths can fit over it..
