I really need help. I was wondering if anybody knew how I could find out about auditions. All the websites I have been on seem to want me to pay monthly amounts in order to see where auditions are been held. I was thinking of joining one of the websites but I feel like perhaps I am just getting ripped off but I suppose the biggest risk in life is not taking one?
I was also going to order a pescription to stage magazine but it wasnt made clear on the website if it even had auditions in there. I am 17 and I just want some guidance to what direction I should be heading, I cant really afford to pay loads of money for an agent or the top acting school and it would be a huge help if somebody would just offer me some advice. Also to add on i read that its good to beable to contact the casting director but how do i know if a film/programme is been made in which i can contact the casting director, and well to be honest i have no clue
Thankyou =).xsorry spelling isnt great! THANKYOU!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like scammers if they want money just for you to get info on where auditions are being held. No I wouldn't join the websites you visit cause if you do they might take your money and run and the audtions might not even be real and your stuck where you are now no where.

Do you have a film company in your area? One where they put together extra's for movies being filmed in your area? (If you have any filmed on location that is) I think the best place that might help you is your yellow pages. Look in there and see if you can find anything under acting (not schools) agents and see if you can call them up and see what they tell you.

Wouldn't hurt to give the call a try. Why don't you email me and I'll see if I can help you out. My email addy is atwtfanforeverworld@yahoo.com
I might have a friend who could help you out I just have to check to see if he has been online so I can ask him something.

If your college drama instructors do not have an answer for your question, you should switch schools. If you want to be an actor, you have to act. Try out for everything you can, not just school plays. The fact that you think agents cost money shows you are not getting a good education at your school. Might be better if you dropped out and started acting in community theaters.

You didn't mentioon what city you are in. The bigger cities like NY/LA/Chicago all have local free papers (i.e. the reader in Chicago). Bigger cities also sometimes have unified auditions. Do not pay somebody to get information on auditions. If you are interested in theatre the best advise is to contact local small theaters in your cities and foster relationships that can lead to gigs.

Please enroll in an acting class in your city. You need acting lessons before you can audition. Talent Agents want to know where you studied acting. They want to know the name of the plays in which you performed and if you have a LOT of leading roles.
