Can piperdine cause damage to the C18 resin in a reverse phase HPLC column?

Question

The ACN used was somehow contaminated with piperdine. The C18 started to come out of one of the columns, ruining it. I'm not sure if the pip could have caused this.

Try washing column with this sequence:
Reverse column and disconnect from detector then run thru for ~ 15 mins for each.
AN (get some clean stuff) then
AN/water 60/40 then
AN/water 15/85 then back to
AN/water 60/40

Wash it with a polar aprotic soln.
