Nope, no swigs here. It's not as simple as just who the prez is. It goes much deeper. During the Clinton era, we had the dotcoms... then they burst. Overinflated stocks and nobody was checking on them. The economy collapsed and everyone wants to blame Bush for it... It was going to happen eventually anyways. People criticize his enviro policy, just because he refuses to sign a treaty that punishes and would do major damage to the American economy. Uh, Bill didn't sign it for the same reason too... but people forget that. The one thing that Bush hasn't done, which Clinton did do, was sell nuclear secrets to the Chinese and Koreans...
Now, if you want to blame the wars in the Middle East on Bush, fine. We probably shouldn't have taken over Iraq, but when those body counts are rolling in, remember this, it's not our troops over there killing people needlessly with carbombs in busy marketplaces and chopping people's heads off with a pocketknife on Al-Jazeera. Not only that, but since 9/11, there hasn't been another bonified attack on US soil. Spain got bombed big time just before an election and they caved in and soft on terrorism. The Brits got bombed once and learned a lesson from it and still stand their ground. The French just booted their lefty prime minister in favor of someone who is American friendly, following in the footsteps of Germany who also got rid of Schroeder for the right wing Merkel.
It's easy to criticize the president, as he is the figurehead of the American public. But, consider this, Congress (which is Democratically controlled) has a lower approval rating than Bush does. So, is Queen Nancy (Pelossi) doing everything that she swore up and down she said she would do if people voted Democrat? No. Instead it is more of the same and people are bickering over small petty stuff instead of coming up with solutions to the problems that we, the United States of America, are facing. People are wasting time with measures trying to censure Bush, just because they don't agree with him. They know it's a symbolic gesture and nothing will come of it, but they waste the time doing it anyways. Last I checked, people in New Orleans still needed help. But Congress has better things to do than worry about common people... The vast majority of politicians have no idea what the everyday common person wants/needs. They are no longer connected with the people, the same people who by definition are "WE THE PEOPLE". They've been in office for so long, voting themselves pay raises of several thousands of dollars and living the good life. Ask any congressman the last time they had Ramen for dinner. Ask them. I bet half don't even know what Ramen is. That goes for both sides.
I look at where we are, and where we need to be. I also think of what could have been. Gore... would not have been a good president. Sorry, just don't think that a person who states he is so environmentally conscious and comes from a family of the biggest polluters in Tennessee would make a good leader. And Kerry was a condescending douche...

why can't people be allowed to disagree without slams and slurs - i vote republican for one main reason - i make some serious money and don't want to pay tons of taxes only to have it given away to other people any more than necessary - especially at the national level
I have no problem paying taxes that fund the national defense or regulation of interstate trade (read the constitution - that's all the federal gov't is chartered to do) but I think the days of welfare and social security should be ended for the most part - yes there are some people that need the help of the gov't - but that's maybe 5% of the people currently being supported

You have to realize that Bush is probably the least qualified and most controversial Republican government official in a very long time. Anything, except most Democrats, would be better than him. Aside from the war, what else is bad?

Thank you for tacitly accepting that Republicans are people, BTW.
Saddly, you can't automaticaly vote in a better government by voting out a bad one. As unsatisfactory as the Republicans have been for the last 7 years, it would be nice to have some confidence that the Democrats won't do worse....

Yes, I like the fact we have not been attacked again by terrorists in the USA. Yes, I like the fact that income taxes are low and tax revenues are high. Yes, I like the fact that the economy is strong and the stock market is at an all time high. Yes, I like the fact the unemployment rate is an all time low. Yes, I like the fact that health care is not controlled by the government. Yes, I like the fact the supreme court is leaning to the right, the first time in 50 years.

no, goodbye GOP politians
I love how people forget 9/11- the biggest attack on America- happened with a republican president. letting al queda reform isn't what I call keeping us safe
and while income tax went down- property tax, gas, food prices, and quite a few other things went up. and as a result programs, like special education in public schools, went down.

It hasn't been all that bad. Had anyone else been in office they would of probably done the same thing and ended up in the same boat. It is always easy to criticize when looking back at things.

And you really prefer things going back to a president like Bill Clinton? Or how about Lyndon B. Johnson? You know, the guy who got us into the Vietnam conflict? Yeah right.
