Have you discussed this with your doctor? Girls should have started their periods by 16. You should check to make sure everything is functioning normally.

i was 16 and still hadn't gotten my period, so my family starting worrying. they wanted to make sure that i wasn't infertile, so they took me to a hormonal specialist who ran a whole bunch of tests to make sure that my hormone levels and everything were ok. i also had an ultrasound to make sure that my internal reproductive system was alright. they said that they could put me on birth control to induce my period, but there really wasn't any point to that since evrerything was ok with my reproductive system and i didn't particualarly want my period. i ended up getting my period on my own a few months later, and it's always been somewhat irregular, i didn't get it every month. i think the main reason that i was so late is that i was (and still am) really skinny, and i was also just a late bloomer. so the moral of the story is, it could be nothing, or there might actually be something wrong with you. you could just wait, but you might want to get everything checked out.

i rarely told my friends that i didn't have it just because it never came up. and if i did, they would just say it was because i was so skinny. you won't have your period if you have to little body fat, which can be either from being skinny or being really athletic.

Some women do start later, I didn't get my first period until I was 17, and I don't have one every month, I have gone to doctors about it and they say it's normal. I probably get a period once every 5 months... so go to a doctor just to make sure, but it can be normal.

Girls get it at all diffrent ages. It would be a little abnormal by not getting it by seventeen, but I have known people like that. If I was you I would just wait, it will come up soon. But if you are that worried contact your doctor, just to make sure there is nothing wrong, I highly doubt there is but if you want to make sure, that is what I would do.

Everyone is different. Seriously. You might want to ask a doctor, though, anyway. But honestly, if you're a very stressed-out or athletic person, you may not get it until later!
