I love all kinds of music.
I'm intelligent.
I have a nice personality.
I'm very kind.
I'm funny.
I'm trustworthy and a great friend.

But when some people look at me all they see a girl with a caramel complexion, of the African American persuasion. My hair is not like yours and obviously my skin is not like yours. Obviously that must mean I am ghetto, loud, mean, and dumb. My hair is probably fake and I listen to loud rap music everyday. I'll beat you up in a second if you give me a problem.

I mean, obviously. I'm black so all the above statements MUST be correct. Because all black people are the same and everything. That's a good reason to hate me, right?

I did ask a question, dream! Look at the freakin question mark at the end?
Get a life.

This was inspired when I was on another website and time and time again I would read someone say something about how they hate black people. And after awhile, that stuff hurts. Because it's senseless and it generalizes and it's unfair that someone who DOESN'T EVEN KNOW ME would include me in the people they HATE because I'm black.

If you have all those good qualities then anyone who makes the judgments you describe isn't really worth your time.

Believe it or not, people all have their own set of perception prejudices to fight.

People in many situations must deal with all sorts of misperceptions and snap judgments. Don't you suppose that racial stereotypes must be flung at people from other ethnicities as well? Don't you think teenagers, little kids, and old people catch prejudice all the time just for their age? Think about the stereotypical assumptions one might make about a six-year old, a fifteen-year-old, or a seventy-year-old person.

What about an older white man with silver hair and a good ol' boy accent and clothes? Did he march in the KKK or with MLK? How can you tell? You can't. Most people would uncharitably assume the former at first glance.

So you can appreciate that like yourself, lots of people are on the receiving end of unfair surface judgments on a daily basis in lots of ways --- do take some courage in the fact that you are not alone in this problem by a long shot.

So what do they all do?

A teacher once told me in a difficult time; "In this, as in all things, the only thing you can do is to behave with the highest possible standard of personal integrity."

Rise above it and concentrate instead on people who give a warmer response. Kill 'em with kindness and they will eventually wise up. If not, their loss.

I have learned that there is no misperception a person can make about me that ten minutes over a cup of coffee won't clear up. I can sometimes even see the moment they wake up and decide that I might actually be a pretty cool chica after all.

I do my best to approach ANY new acquaintance with an expectation of their high value unless and until they prove me wrong. For me, skin color is not evidence of value one way or the other.

We all have unique strengths -- rejoice in yours and don't let the turkeys get you down.

No, it isn't a good reason to hate you! what these people are being is stereotypical towards you, not all black people are the same, we are different in our own way. But all those people have nothing better to do than judge others, they are very pathetic, just ignore them, you know in your mind that you are different so let them think what they want... just hold your held high and show them you are better not to judge others....
Ps:
I love all kinds of music.
I'm intelligent.
I have a nice personality.
I'm very kind.
I'm funny.
I'm trustworthy and a great friend.
I'm all those things too, lol, its really freaky people judge me all the time, but i know i don't give a s hit what they say, if they have a problem them must deal with it iight.
Take care of yourself gurl, show them that you are better than them! :)

(Jonas Brothers look too newborn like.) Who do I hate? Courtney Love is gross and ridiculous. of direction anybody hates Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie is disconnected from certainty too. woman Gaga sucks!!!! She's so grotesque and untalented. this is it! this is my answer! She had a music approximately dancing and she or he would be able to't even pass. stupid.

Why should I hate someone that I don't know? Yea, I'm white and you are black. What does that have to do with any. If you so unhappy with yourself this much that then you should do something with your life other than assume that everyone hates you because you are black. You have a problem and you need to get over yourself.

You and I are alot alike.
My current boyfriend who is white, never thought he would date a black woman because of the stereotypes he had. Now, hes in awe because he thinks Im his soul mate since we have everything in common except our skin color.

Not everybody... just racists.

They're a very vocal minority, cos they can't think of anything intelligent to say and so they try to boost their self esteem by making pointless statements about others.

You sound pretty cool to me, so don't EVER worry about what idiots say!

If people hate you based on looks, they aren't worth your time and bother, they are the ignorant ones.

I see what you are saying. People who are prejudiced are not looking at the person's personality. They look at skin color, or the clothes they wear. I agree with you.
