I think I'm supposed to basically take Tylenol. I bought some tylenol extra strength capsuls and it says it helps with the common cold. This is safe to take right? I also got soup and orange juice. It doesn't seem like the pills will help with this terrible cough though. Is there something else I should take or is this fine? Thank you.

OH man, do I know what you're going through!! I'm also 12 weeks pregnant and pregnancy has made me permanantly congested and sneezy. My doctor told me that Tylenol is 100% safe to take at any stage during pregnancy....and trust me, I have an extremely cautious doctor. Tylenol didn't really relieve any symptoms for me except for a little bit of head pressure. If you have a fever, you should notice quite a bit of relief though. During the day I just suffer through it, but at night I have found that Breathe Right strips help me get a few hours of sleep. Good luck to you and congratulations on moving into your second trimester. Isn't it exciting!!!

All part of the joy of motherhood. Back off the Tylenol unless you have a fever, just a 500mg x2daily maximum if I were you. I think its important not to go overboard with a mess of vitamins that ha vent been your usual regiment taken before your body was pregnant. Drink plenty of H20!!!!! get allot of rest. I had a severe head cold with my 2nd and I tried Ocean spray (a saline or salt water nasal spray) completely natural, beyond that last I spoke with one OB and he suggested AFRIN a nasal spray if congestion is severe enough to limit your O2 intake while trying to sleep.
Rest
Drink water
Try nasal spray (as suggested)
Fresh air and a humidifier is always nice to have around

I had a cold in my first trimester and I didn't take anything. Better safe than sorry just drink lots of water, eat soup, and be sure to get a lot of rest.
