In my many years of temping I've met a need breed of staffing agencies. It is so important to go to the agencies that LISTENS (very important) to what you are looking for? I've had the opportunity of meeting quite a few temp agencies who sized me up, viewed my resume and offer me clients and jobs that I wasn't interested in. One agency went so far to pimp me to a client that they lied to me about the job specs. This agency (on wall street) knew I had experience on the trading floor and knew they could make money off me. I repeatly told them NO trading floor and this woman turned off her ability to hear me. She claimed that this was a totatly different job and I had to meet the client if I wanted to get a job at this company. The Client then informed me that the agency spoke highly of me. Funny, they never checked my references, tested me or commuincated with me about past work experiences. All the agency saw was dollar sign and I was pimped. Scary!!!

So, is this a question, or are you just venting?
I'm very happy with the agency that has helped me during underemployment and unemployment chapters of my life for over 15 years. Look for a good one and stick with it. Don't hop around.

Staffing companies have a reputation of being very trickery so you really have to watch out for them. I can tell you of stafffing companies in Houston, TX are the biggest pimps or game players I've ever seen. One staffing co. lied to me and I had this one lady who looked at my resume and said we have a really great position for you. So I put on my suit, drove 20 miles to the staffing company only to be told that the position pays 8.00 an hour and that the job has been put on hold. I attended graduate school and she has the nerve to say 8.00 an hour for the position. I got up and left. I was livid and mad.

Also had another staffing company tell me of a job with Exxon Mobile in which I would be making 35.00 an hour working on spreadsheets. The job offer never materialized. Also interviewed for that job and the guy told me he liked my resume and would submit. Told me later the position has been put on hold. This staffing company wasted my time, money and effort.

I would advise not to seek staffing companies. I was in a very ugly recession at the time and was very desperate. From this point on, no staffing companies.

Also write your congressman and senators in your state and Washington about them.
