My son was a 27 weeker born last October. He had Synagis shots starting in January thru March (which was this year's RSV season.) He has had no ongoing lung issues, so I'm wondering if he will need it starting with this year's season as well. What was your preemie's experience?
I'm concerned because I am about to lose my insurance, which paid for the vaccine last year. If the doctor prescribes the Synagis, and you don't have insurance, do you just go without?

Okay, first of all, JENN, that wasn't my question. Second of all, not that I have to answer to you, but my son is insured but I decided to quit my job to be a stay at home mom. He has a doctor's appointment on the 30th and I plan to ask her about this issue, but I am simply asking for other people's experiences WHO HAVE HAD THIS EXPERIENCE.
So, if you don't, then I suggest you keep your fat mouth shut and answer someone else's question that you might actually have an answer to. *****.

My daughter was also preemie and had synagis during her first RSV season but for the second season she didn't need it. It depends on how well your child is doing weather he has a healthy immune system and no lung issues. If all is good then no he will not need them again this coming year. And if doctor does reccomend them this year and you can not afford them just keep your baby away from ppl, and wash your hands constantly so the chance of him getting it is greatly dimished. Hope is helpful. Brandy :)
