The first 2 answerers are both right (and maybe the 4th).
It's most likely a pop-up ad. You can ignore it, like you do (I hope) for any other pop-up ad. The current versions of most browsers can block pop-ups. If your browser can't, upgrade to the current version.
You might have adware on your computer. IMPORTANT: The message comes from the bad guys, not from something that wants to save you from the bad guys. Don't click it. If you don't have an adware/spyware blocker, get one.

Sounds like you got nailed by Windows Genuine Advantage program from Microsoft - appears your OS is not a legitimate licensed copy. Maybe you could use some of those stock trading profits to buy a legal copy of Windows? Just a thought.

Microsoft enacted a way to ensure that Windows is licensed. If your license code is not valid or you did not enter one, then you need to resolve that issue. This is not (normally) a worm or virus, it is Windows working to ensure it is properly licensed.
You can do one of the following:
1. Enter your license code
2. Send Microsoft (after calling them) a high quality disk and license if yours is actually pirated and they will send you a valid version. They will need information on how to pursue the maker of the pirated version.
3. Contact who sold you the computer or Windows for a valid license code
4. Buy a valid copy of Windows and enter the license code

Ignore it, don't click on it, and use a pop-up blocker.
