Simple: All you have to do is take a look at the "sample pool" in these polls who purport Hillary to be the front-runner and you quickly learn that those polled were either (a) registered Democrat voters, or (b) people from states and districts that have historically supported Democrat candidates. Why is nothing being said about the USA Today poll two months ago where over 60% of registered Democrat women voters said they would NOT vote for Hillary? Why is that being kept silent? The mainstream liberal media doesn't want you to hear that -- it doesn't fit their socialist agenda.

Simple numbers. A majority, 52%, of Americans would never vote for her. She is the leader among democratic candidates. Roughly half of America will vote democratic. She only has a portion of the democratic vote right now. Lets say she has 46% of the democratic vote that represents about 50% of America. She would then be the current favorite of (completely naive, mislead, or just plain anti-american people) 23% percent of Americans. She will need a lot more people on her side to get the majority in the end. Until the vote in Nov. 08, it doesn't matter much. She is still a crooked person either way.

Hillary has by far the best political machine in the race right now. It is true, there is a certain percentage of the population which can't stand her, but hate rarely wins elections for the other side, eg, Bush in '04, Clinton in '96.
Hillary is clearly the front runner because she is raising a ton of money, leading in the polls in many of the key primary states and has been smart in moderating herself since she has been in the Senate. There also is a sense that she has more experience than Obama.

That's something you hear from the conservatives and garden variety Clinton Haters. They love to quote that 50% of Americans say that they will never vote for her. Except that number has gone down to 34%.

The truth is that most Democrats, even those who do not like her much, will vote for her over any Republican on Election Day when it comes down to it. Not all, but most of them. Her support just keeps growing, week by week. They may not like it and not be able to admit it, but if they don't stop pretending she doesn't have a chance they're just cutting their own throats.
EDIT: A great example from the answerer "Pro American." Apparently he hasn't paid attention to the shift in those numbers in the last month.

Because funding by the Democrats in the media is larger, so they're buying their support! Secondly, the power Democrats are hoping that since she's a woman and she will back their agendas, they can provide false surveys to the public and gain real support for her!
Just listen to her, she says what the mainstream is saying at the time. If she thinks they change, she changes!
WOULD ANYONE REALLY WANT HER IN OFFICE WHEN SHE CAN'T MAINTAIN HER OWN STANDARDS AND/OR MORALS???? SHE HAS TO BE TOLD WHAT SHE BELIEVES IN, THAT'S SAD!

The mean answer would be 'democrat's aren't people...'
Seriously, though, 'front runner' status is a matter of your popularity within your own party (especially the leadership), the sheer volume of campaign contributions you're recieving, and, ultimately, whether or not the media sticks the 'frontrunner' label on you.

The media, her money, and the fact that she was a frist lady. The people that I know of who like her aren't very well informed about the current state of our country!
Vote for Ron Paul 08!

Because the media hasn't found something solid enough to focus on to take her off of her pedestal.
One false step though, and they'll be waiting to exploit, exploit, exploit.
She'll fall from grace soon, worry not.

I think people generally like Bill Clinton. He is very charasmatic and able to sway people's opinions. I think they want him back in the white house, so they will take the next best thing. Also, there isn't much competition out there right now.
