"The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, elected by the people thereof, for six years; and each Senator shall have one vote. The electors in each State shall have the qualifications requisite for electors of the most numerous branch of the State legislatures."

The original concept of Senators is they represented the states, while Representatives were for the people. That's why the people chose the House, and the state legislatures or state executives chose the Senators.

Over time, the idea shifted that the states were independent of the people, and that the states needed separate representation than the people. So, rather than restructure the entire bi-cameral system, they just made Senators elected by the people directly.

Wow. I can see if you aren't a big federalist, but you've got to be kidding. I guess you don't live in the world's most powerful nation amid downright lavish prosperity compared to most other countries.

Come on now.

No but I did thank a veteran for my freedom. Not quite a political and stylish maybe but makes a whole lot more sense than radical political rants.
