f(x)= 1/ (x - 2)^2 between [0 , 2]

(f(b) - f(a))/(b-a)

Here, f(b) = 1/(2-2)^2 = 1/0^2 which is undefined.
Therefore the mean value theorem does not apply

The mean value theorem applies to a closed interval in which the given function is continuos.
At x= 2- this does not happen so the theorem does not apply
