I'd Send 5,000 to rebuild Katrina .
3,000 to the UN (refugee aid)
and 2,000 to my local Volunteer Cat Shelter.(C.A.T.A.L.E.S.)

and just to set the record straight,ahead of time....
NO,You cannot keep it for yourselves ,ppls. These have to be Real Charities. no "Charity(ies) of ME"

I recently spent one week volunteering for Katrina victims in New Orleans. It was the most gratifying thing I have ever done, therefore I'd donate all of it to the organization there.

I would give 1/4 to local shelters and women's aid centres
1/4 to the cancer centre fund at our local hospital
1/4 to Canada food for Children
and 1/4 to the not for profit school I work at.

i would hold the money, wait for someone that would have their life turned around by the money. for example someone down on their luck and desperate but with a leg up could turn it around. get off the streets, get an apartment, clean up, get some clothes and a decent job.
